The sheet mask trend and why it's here to stay.

I have always been a fan of a face mask. Whether to combat my on-going battle with acne or to complete a movie night in with the girls there is something therapeutic and relaxing about doing a face mask.

For years I have used the 'classic' style mask which normally dries down and you remove with a muslin cloth or water, however over the last couple of years there has been a new kid on the block. Enter the sheet mask. A K-beauty trend of 2016 that has now gone mainstream, sheet masks are EVERYWHERE. I feel like every time I scroll through social media I see someone wearing a #sheetmask sipping a vanilla latte (we all know the type of person I am talking about and I am also guilty). Albeit, there is a good reason why they are so popular, because they are extremely effective.

What exactly is a sheet mask?

Sheet masks come in all different shapes and sizes and contain a plethora of different ingredients depending on the specific skin concerns you want to target. Whether it's anti-ageing, brightening, detoxifying and so on. You name it, and there is probably a sheet mask out there for it. Simply put, it is an absorbent sheet in a face shape and it is packed full of skincare serums. As it is against the skin for usually 10-20 minutes, the ingredients are absorbed into the skin very well and these masks sure pack a punch.

I am lucky enough to be a part of the Lookfantastic ambassador team, so I am kindly sent new skincare goodies each month to try out and review for you all. Being so used to the classic wash off mask I was originally very skeptical of sheet masks introducing so many ingredients to my already very sensitive skin but I am so obsessed that I now rarely do the classic mask and am a sheet mask convert!

Being able to choose a sheet mask depending on your skincare needs makes it a super effective way to improve skin concerns and I feel like my skin has improved so much since introducing them into my routine. I would say on average I like to mask 2/3 times a week, and I am going to talk you through some of my favourites.

My favourites!

I have put together a few of my absolute ride or die face masks recently that I feel like I can always trust to sort my skin out and they are as follows.

1) Seoulista Beauty sheet masks

These masks are by far my favourite of the bunch and for good reason. They contain an INSANE amount of serum in every pack, so I not only feel like I am getting my moneys worth, but I feel like every time I wake up after using one of these the night before the results are visible. My skin looks brighter and more plump, and I cannot get enough. They come in many different styles but my go to is super hydration. They are available HERE.

2. Shangpree Marine Jewel illuminating mask

This entry from Shangpree is another outstanding addition to the list. Containing S-marine jewel, sea water and pearl extract this mask plumps and smooths skin and I wake up feeling refreshed and brightened. It is available HERE.

3. Skin Republic sheet masks

Skin Republic have a ton of different options to choose from depending on your skincare needs and one of my favourites is this green tea hydrogel mask. Green tea is a fantastic ingredient for acne prone skin and I always find myself going back to this if my skin is having a bad week. It is available HERE.

In Summary

As you can tell, I am a huge fan of this K-beauty trend and I can see it staying mainstream for years to come. With new masks and brands jumping on this trend every week, I can see new and innovative masks keeping people interested for a long time.

Have any of you tried sheet masks before? And if so what did you think. Let me know in the comments below.

Take care everyone, and I will see you on the next one,

Max xoxo
